A World-Famous Destination
There’s no place like Tony Packo’s!
Our historic Toledo eatery has served famous Hungarian hot dogs and specialty comfort foods since 1932. While adding new items to our menu, we prepare our dishes from original family recipes, keeping the legacy of Tony Packo alive.
And nine decades later, people can’t get enough! From our authentic Eastern European cuisine to our signed celebrity buns, Packo’s has become a world-famous destination for visitors passing through the Glass City, and a local hangout where memories are made.
Everyone Loves Our Buns

You can see why “Everyone Loves Our Buns” when you enter the restaurant. Our Original Front Street location on Toledo’s East Side is like walking into the past. You can picture Tony Packo serving up 5¢ hot dogs in this Hungarian neighborhood in the early days of the Great Depression. The lined walls with signed hot dog buns, or “the hot dog hall of fame,” houses a collection of thousands of signatures from presidents, celebrities, singers, athletes, and other famous names who have stopped by for a bite. Find out which celebrity started this bun signing trend.
Nostalgic Tiffany Lamps

You'll find ornate, hand-crafted Tiffany lighting and lamps throughout our Tony Packo's Restaurants, adding a sense of sophistication and artistic ambiance. These lamps were produced by Louis Comfort Tiffany, a famous interior designer known for using stained glass, during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Tiffany's lamps were popular among wealthy Americans, who used them to add a touch of luxury to their homes.
Nancy Packo would attend auctions on weekends, searching for these fixtures to hang in The Original Front Street restaurant. Today, Tiffany lamps are still highly prized by collectors. Nancy had fantastic taste!
Deep in the Ocean
Toledo, Ohio, is known for its art scene, distinctive architecture, and friendly Midwestern charm. Toledo is home to the USS Toledo, a Los Angeles-class nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine. The USS Toledo (SSN-769) is the third ship named for Toledo, Ohio. Fun fact! The USS Toledo Nuclear Submarine mess hall is nicknamed “Packo’s Down Under” for serving our Original Hot Dogs.
Packo’s Hot Dog Sauce Orbited Earth
When most people think of taking food into space, they probably envision vacuum-sealed packets of freeze-dried ice cream or astronaut ice cream bars. But for one Ohio-born astronaut, the food of choice for a space mission was a bit more down to earth. In 1997, Don Thomas brought cans of Tony Packo's Hot Dog Sauce aboard the U.S. shuttle Columbia.
Don discovered Tony Packo's shortly after the July 1995 Discovery Mission while speaking at Glenwood Elementary School in Rossford. He visited the Original Front Street location for lunch and loved the food.
He has since retired from NASA but still enjoys visiting Tony Packo's whenever he's back in Toledo. And who can blame him? After all, there's nothing quite like a Packo's Hungarian hot dog topped with our famous Hot Dog Sauce.
